The Irish Ministerial Air Transport Squadron (MATS) (part of the Irish Air Corps) provide secure transport to the President of Ireland, the Taoiseach (prime minister), the Tánaiste (the deputy prime minister), and members of the government and their staff, both within and outside the Republic of Ireland.
The aircraft involved in carrying Irish members of state include a Beechcraft Super King Air, Gulfstream IV, and Learjet 45. International flights are flown out by the Gulfstream IV, and during 2004 the Learjet 45 was introduced into MATS service flying.[citation needed] A Beechcraft Super King Air is used when the Gulfstream IV or Learjet 45 are not available.
